Intersections

EPFL ALICE, Studio Wegman, Spring 2023

The aim of this project was to revitalize Parc Rigot, a public park in front of the United Nations in Geneva, by creating a network of protostructures (a 1.2m by 1.2m wooden modular structure used in this architecture studio). Through site analysis, we identified desire paths traversing the park, connecting entrances on the east and west, as well as a shortcut through a dense field leading to the nearby tram stop. While informal, these routes are key to how people interact with the park. To highlight and activate these paths, we propose a system of covered pathways designed for walking, meeting, and sitting that can enhance circulation and interaction in the park.
